A couple more fireworks…

This is how it looked right before the DC show started.
This is how it looked right before the DC show started.

It always reminds me of “War of the Worlds”. The Martians, or rather fireworks, are creeping ever closer.

This is yesterday's B/W. It was early in the show.
This is yesterday’s B/W. It was early in the show.

This one was one of the first ones. The lights are still on at the capital. So, the PBS show was still going on.

Almost over.
Almost over.

I widened the shot out a little. The Martians are still out there. And a couple have sneaked across the river to Arlington. (The Arlington illegal fireworks way is to shoot them off in a public park during the big show. Unless you do something egregious – you will get away with it. The cops are busy getting ready for a massive traffic mess starts as soon as the fireworks are done.)

And this is all the fireworks until next year. (Clicking on the image makes it bigger.)

Enjoy every sandwich: Salmon burritos.

Just Pictures.

The old man polishes his sword. The old woman discovers that the iPod can be used as a remote with the new camera. Hence a selfie.
I forgot that it is waterlily season. Had the wrong lens for snapping waterlily.

The fireworks looked like flying saucers.

Enjoy Every Sandwich – tuna again later today. We had shrimp, with fresh green beans and tomato for lunch.

Le Tour started today.

July 4th – another try at wildlife photography

When pigs fly.
When pigs fly.

The new camera did not turn me into a wild life photographer. When pig fly. That is when I’ll make it as a wild life photographer.

I put my four-thirds adapter on the camera and slapped on the Leica zoom lens. The lens works fine. I lost usage of the aperture ring. But, I knew that would happen. Autofocus works fine. Maybe finer than it works on the old L1.

Too windy (from Hurricane Arthur)  to photograph bees today. No magnolia showed up. Hence “wildlife”.

Enjoy every sandwich… I’ll be putting out tuna sandwiches about 8PM. Fireworks at 9PM.

Magnolia #12

Magnolia #1 from new camera
Magnolia #1 from new camera. #12 of the 2014 magnolia season.

Must learn how to nail the focus on the new camera. Also, hoping I can figure our how to do fireworks before tomorrow night.

Enjoy Every Sandwich: Cheese Burgers.

Mr C started looking at the literature from the old folks asylum. I wonder: Is he looking for “me” or for “us”?

I think I am going to love this camera

One of the first shots.
One of the first shots. With the “new” 17mm 1.8 lens.

The new camera was here when I got home from “work”. It is a bit of a learning experience. But, I think I am going to love this camera. But, first, I must do some serious manual reading. Hope I can figure out enough to shoot fireworks on Friday.

And, it do need some accessories. Starting with a strap that doesn’t SHOUT Olympus E-M1.

Busy today. I didn’t want to be busy. I wanted to play with new camera. Well, maybe tomorrow.

Enjoying Every Sandwich. One of my favorites today – turkey, swiss and coleslaw. And – how about a beer for me. Ice cream for Mr C.

“Playing” Tennis???

I caught Mr C playing tennis !
I caught Mr C playing tennis !

Went out for walkabout early this morning and found Mr C and Mr Bob “playing” tennis.

Sprung for a “new” camera today. I got a used Olympus OMD-EM1 whatever that is. And a lens adapter – so I can use my collection of four-thirds lenses. Think of it as recycling.

Well, I made a site visit to another old folks home today. They fed me lunch. It was OK. Actually, lunch was fine. Living with a bunch of 80 somethings – maybe not so fine. But, I am 70 something. In my head I am maybe 50 something.

Enjoy Every Sandwich: Chicken, cheese and tomato sandwich.

Busted.

Caught in the act.
Caught in the act.

The bunny is so busted. Bunny ate all the scarlet runner beans at in the Library’s veggie garden.

Enjoy Every Sandwich: Yesterday’s chicken, cheese and pineapple quesadilla was excellent. Today – think we will have salmon sandwiches. With a side of cantaloupe.

Going to check out an old folks asylum tomorrow. All my by myself. Mr C has opted out. He says he isn’t going to be alive when it comes time to move in. Or if he is alive, he will not be well enough to be admitted.

There were bees – but, I rather like this one without any bees.

Enjoy Every Sandwich: How does chicken, cheese and pineapple sound? Sounds good to me. And, I am the cook. I might even make it into a quesadilla. That sounds wrong doesn’t it? Pineapple quesadilla.

Be afraid. Be very afraid. Two really really important Supreme Court rulings due tomorrow.

2day’s Milkweed and Bee

Walked to and from work today – enlightened self interest – not excessive devotion to duty. I wanted to be sure the computers were working OK. Since some of our less computer savvy nurses were working today. And, I wanted to be darn sure they could enter the data into the system. Else, I would have to do the data entry next week. And, I knocked off 3.8 miles on the FitBit. A late afternoon trek to Trader Joe’s and I am good for over 5 miles.

Still lusting after a new camera. A new expensive camera. I said I wasn’t going to look a Leica’s new aluminum jewel. Maybe I will. Dream large. But wait, that would be 2K for the camera and 2K for a lens. Let’s see… I might have 10 more years left. That would mean that my camera would cost – about $1.10 per day. It doesn’t sound so bad if you put it like that!

Enjoy Every Sandwich: Grilled chicken and wicked hot pepper jack cheese.

Milkweed and Bee

Enjoy Every Sandwich: Chicken Salad with Pineapple.

Update on the barcode generation process: Try two didn’t work either. But it was darn close. Try three should do it.

In the camera world it is called GAS – Gear Acquisition Syndrome. I have been loving my old L1. Trying to resist the totally retro Fuji X100s. It isn’t working I still want an X100s. AND, now I want a new expensive Olympus that I can use with my collection of L1 lenses.

But, why do I need a retro camera? The L1 is so retro as to be almost extinct.

And, while we are at it: What the F are we doing back in Iraq. It didn’t work so very good last time. It is a religious war guys. Never any winners in religious wars guys!

More Barcodes and a magnolia

magnolia try 11
magnolia try 11 – faux moonlight

Worked on the barcodes some this afternoon. Yesterday’s try didn’t do the job. Hopefully today’s attempt will work.

The weather is nice. Mr C is feeling “fine”. These are days of grace.

Enjoy every sandwich: turkey, swiss and coleslaw.

Barcoding 2day

from today's walk home - L1
from today’s walk home – L1

Spent the afternoon trying to figure out how to make barcode labels for our 2,000+ employee folders using the employee’s ID. I made some samples. Tomorrow, I’ll see if they work. I am guessing they will not work. Very few things that I attempt work on the first try.

If at first you don’t succeed, try… try… and try again. Then stop. Don’t make an ass of yourself!

Enjoying Every Sandwich: Steak and Cheese.
