Day 15 – B/W Fest

Day 15 Common Sulphur

Best image today is this little common sulphur butterfly. It really should be left as a color photo. But, I do have this B/W thing going. So, I gave it a little antiquing. I believe I have had a little antiquing. More than a little.

Good news. Carlton was accepted by Georgetown Medical School. Class of Not-too-soon-please. As a cadaver. That was actually much easier than dealing with a funeral home. Way easier. And, everything is preplanned. And while we are at it – why are they called funeral homes? I do know why living rooms are called living rooms. The living room used to be called the parlor. In larger houses the “front” parlor. It was a room where one “received” guests and more importantly, where the dead were “laid out” prior to burial. In the late Victorian period – in an attempt to get people to actually use that room – the name was changed to living room. Now you know.

Day 14 – B/W Fest

Day 14 - 1966 Chrysler Convertable

Just when I had given up hope of finding an interesting target for my B/W workout, I came upon a fine elderly convertible. It was not restored. Sort of run hard and put away wet.

Nice cool weather. Which is good. Because our county bus company is on strike. So, for nearby trips – it is just me and my shoes. This also explains why the bus didn’t pick me up yesterday AM.

Well, Ms Bachmann  entered the right wing lists. Now we have to wait on She Who Must Not Be Mentioned. Then let the cat fighting begin.

Day 13 – Plus a little color

Day 13 - Yard Art

Lovely early summer day. So, I took the long way home. Found this really fine yard art.

From my Saturday walk-about. This one just doesn’t work in black and white. Never mind that the best street shooting is usually black and white.

Clarendon Street Scene

Took some profits today. In case the market tanks big time – I want to be more in dividend paying consumer goods and less in Australian mining stocks.

B/W Fest – Day 12

Day 12 - Clematis

No more health reports on Mr C – he is on the way to recovery. And, I still seem to be OK.

Counting Blessings. Thank you Goddess for Callista Gingrich. Can you imagine having to look at her for an entire campaign and listen to the Newt? But, blessing – Callista is credited for sinking the Newt’s campaign before it took off.

Do Callista and I even belong to the same species???? I don’t think so. That would be another blessing.

A minor blessing – haven’t heard anything from She Who Must Not Be Mentioned in the last 48 hours. Maybe I should have my hearing checked?

Day 11 – you shoot with what you got

Day 11 - Shooting the Shooters

Ended up at a bike race today totally under equipped. Had only my FX01. Not what one would select for taking pictures at a race. So, mostly I enjoyed the race. The winning team rode smart and beat the favorite.

Excellant news. Mr C is much better today. And, I am still well. But, I am not returning to the bedroom. After he gets completely well, I’ll hose down the whole apartment with Clorox.

This just in: Congress Weiner to seek treatment. Treatment for what??? Being a total ass. “Hello, my name is Tony and I am an ass”.

Day 10 – topside again

Day 10 - another roof day

Took the little FX01 up on the roof again today.

Mr C also made it up. That’s him in the white hat. On the side of the pool nearest the men’s potty. I sure hope they put lots of chorine in that water. Between Mr C and the small kids, it is bound to get a little toxic.

Day – 9 not the best of times.

Day 9 - Eggs

Not the best of days. According to Google – it is 101 degrees. And, I thought Mr C might be getting better but he just made two mad dashes – once to each bathroom. The apartment must be a petrie dish for  fecal bacteria and viruses. And, I am not having any real luck forcing liquids down his gullet.

However, I am still fine. Of course, every little stomach rumble makes me ask “is this it?”. I know, that is selfish . But, I am supposed to be out west in 10 days. I want to be well. I must be well.

So, let us be grateful for what we do have:

  1. Air Conditioning.
  2. Indoor – albeit contaminated – plumbing. And, a washer/dryer.

B/W Fest – Day 8

Day 8 - What tonal range?

Who needs tonal range?

Mr C may or may not be better today. He is not any worse. And, he is getting crabbier. He ordered something “very bland” of lunch. What could be blander than white rice? So, I gave him a bowl of rice. Then he said – don’t we have any marinara sauce? So, I whip up some marinara sauce. He eats two spoons of marinara sauce. We’ll see what he wants for dinner.

As for me – I am still well. But, I did  break an emergency chocolate out of the fridge.

Only in the wonderful world of Mr C. Today, he called up Georgetown University Medical School and wanted to know why he wasn’t accepted. Answer. He was. But the professor who signs the very nice form letters was on vacation.

I hate talking on the phone. So why do I find myself wanting an iPhone????

Day 7 – Poor Day for Photos

Day 7 - Cactus

Found these cacti on my way home from the volunteer job today. That was about it photo- wise today.

Mr C seems to be a little better today. He is sitting up and running the remote control. His symptoms seem to have moved into his GI track. I am still healthy.   I am not moving back into the bedroom.

Mr C is a bit miffed that I or rather my cadaver has been accepted by Georgetown Medical School. But, he hasn’t heard back from them yet. Maybe he will have to apply to one of his backup choices.

Day 6 – topside

Day 6 - Up on the roof - FX01.

Nice early summer day up on the roof.

Not so fine down here. Mr C. has some sort of virus thing. I am sure it is nothing serious. He has fever, chills, body aches. Your classic flu symptoms.  For selfish reasons, I hope it doesn’t last too long, and that it has a short incubation period because – if I am going to get it – I want it over before my trip to New Mexico. I have decamped to the little bed in his office.

B/W Fest – Day 5

Day 5 - A Capital Photographer

Well, now that I look at it more carefully – this one needs some more work. I went to the Capital this afternoon for an annual Hawaiian event. A little singing, dancing, slack key – and since it was at the Capital – more than a little speech making.

Oh yeah, I took 200 pictures. I am down to 100 – but honest – before the day is finished – I’ll get it down to 20. Just because a have terabytes of storage doesn’t mean I have to use it all.

Day 5 - Capital Photographer - try 2

I think this one is a little better.

B/W Fest – Day 4

Day 4 - Art Deco Style Walgreens

Yesterday I re-discovered my little old FX-01 camera. I took it to the farm market this morning. I’ll use it for the next few days. Might even take it with me out west. Travel light.

As you get older, you notice more and more stuff that you are supposed to need. How about a walk-in bath boys and girls? Think about this thing.

You take of all your clothes.
You open the gate to your bath tub.
You walk in.
You sit your sorry old ass down.
You close the door.
You stay on the bench whilst the water comes in.
You do the bath thing.
You stay in the tub whilst the cold and dirty water goes out.
You open the gate.
You egress the tub.

Doesn’t that sound like a lot of fun? Hanging out in the tub, while the water runs in and out. Also, if I am so feeble as to require this contraption – are we so sure that I wouldn’t just open the gate and get out and not wait on the water to run out?
