Its Beginning To Look A Lot Like Xmas

Street Xmas Decorations

The street light decorations are up. And, this morning, while I was doing laundry – I got a phone call asking (telling) me to come down to the lobby and help decorate the hotel tree.

Fortunately, I had nothing other than laundry planned. Got an invite to a Xmas luau, but since we are car free, I don’t know if we can get there.

Been thinking about getting a Kindle – if I can decide WHICH Kindle to get. I was really surprised when Mr C expressed an interest in the Kindle. He saw one at an AA meeting. Far better than him seeing his first Kindle in my hand.

Tuna, rice, broccoli, avocado was today’s dinner.

Broke out the wetsuit today

Honl's Beach

Today was my “Big Swim” day. Every other day is “Big Swim” day. I swam ocean “laps” for 1/2 hour. I could just swim out 15 minutes and come back. That is what I do while walking. (except I walk 30 to 60 minutes in one direction). But, self preservation instinct makes me want to stay closer to the beach. I am not really into swimming for exercise. But, this year, I hope to be able to swim out to see the dolphins. And, I’d like to get safely back to the shore.

Got some of those canned French’s Fried Onions today – so I am good to go for Thanksgiving. I do allow French’s Fried Onions – but draw the line at anything involving marshmallows and/or Jello.

Cloudy 2day

Yellow Tail Goatfish

Setting up for a few days of windy and cloudy days. Rain being a possibility. That means that we are heading into Hawaiian winter. Oh yes, and jellyfish are predicted.

I am currently over run with avocado.

Purple Haze

Celebrity Century

A little color correction would take care of that purple cast – but, I sorta like it.

The Celebrity Century came by one day last week. She was on her way to Honolulu. Then on to Sydney by way of Tahiti. 19 days. One could join up in Honolulu for $1,200 inside cabin. I was very tempted. Carlton wasn’t.

Nuked some chicken thighs today. With spinach. Also rice and salad of avocado and grapefruit. I try to cook at least one meal a week with “real” ingredients. Nothing pre-prepared or simply nukable.

Chores Today

At the farm market

Today was chore day. Defrost fridge. Hike up to Safeway to restock the fridge with “haole kine” food. I sort of did my Thanksgiving dinner shopping.

Then I swam out to the bleach bottles again. Soon I’ll make it out to the black-thingie. And that is the end of my swim circuit. The next marker is the “Iron Man Buoy”. It is about 1.2 mile out which makes for a 2.4 mile swim.  Too far by far for me.

Then I finished revisiting Robert Heinlein’s 1957 classic A Door Into Summer.

Moorish Idols

School of small moorish idols

Ordinary Kona day. Walked 3.58 miles according to the iPod Nano. Swam out to the “bleach bottles”. And generally did nothing. Combination Coffee Harvest Festival and Veteran’s Day Parade in about an hour.

Pasta and chicken for lunch. Avocado, pineapple and tuna salad scheduled for dinner after the parade – and some coffee. Gotta celebrate the coffee harvest.

Ordinary Kona Day

Outrigger at Kamakahonou

Notice that sugar white sand. Hawai’i does not have sugar white sand. All the sand at Kamakahonou Beach got wash away by the tsunami. So, sugar white sand was imported from Japan. Since the tsunami came from Japan, it seems only fair.

Lunch today was shark steaks. I had papaya with mine while Carlton had avocado.

Watched the Republican debates last night. Who knew Republicans were so entertaining.

Computer Pilikia pau

Spinner Dolphin

Computer is back to normal. I took the camera out for a swim this morning. I always swap out the SD card and the battery in the very well air conditioned hotel across the street – so no fish pictures from today.

The really good swimmers reported seeing a shark – now the shark was out farther than I go – but I asked myself – “I can not swim out to where the shark is – but what’s to stop the shark from swimming in to were I am?”. I didn’t have a good answer to that question. But, I swam around for about an hour anyhow. Hearing the Jaws theme song all the while!

Today’s menu: turkey meatballs, mashed potatoes, zucchini and carrots for lunch today. The meatball, zucchini and carrots got nuked together. And the potatoes were leftover. Pretty easy.

Day 7

Computer is back from the shop. AGAIN. The service boy forgot to hook the fan back up. Thank you iStat Nano.

The repair would have cost $450. Two extra years of “Apple Care” cost $234. A deal.

Tomorrow, tomorrow I’ll get out of this computer soap opera. Heck, tomorrow, I might even be willing to take my camera in the ocean. There is no back up camera. Plan B, if this one floods or craps out is to order a replacement from Amazon.
