Got us a way back to Arlington. Leaving noonish Sunday March 3 and should be enjoying a late morning coffee back home on Monday March 4.

Getting plane tickets is a serious hassle. A ticket on United to Seattle from Kona via Los Angles costs $175. But, if you want to just go to Los Angles – that will be $550. It makes me crazy.

No internet today

When I woke up this AM – there was no Internet. First thing I thought was that maybe Secretary Penetta’s cyber 9/11 had happened. But, no it was just our normal Internet issues. When I came back from the beach at 4:30 this afternoon it was back.

If my information about the location of the swim bouys is correct – and I am not at all sure that it is – then I swam one mile today.

Today was all sucked up by my visit to the dentist. But, I filled up the rest of the day curating my photos from the Great North American Train Trip.

I took this one on the last day of my trip when I was hanging out in Toronto waiting for my midnight bus.

My tooth will be finished 3 weeks from today.

Just another day in paradise.

The internet was cranky yesterday evening. Too many people tweeting about Superbowl commercials maybe.

About the picture. At least he decided to “nap” on a safer part of the seawall. He will not roll off more than 2 feet. And, yes, he normally dresses like this. It isn’t a special Superbowl or Madri Gras costume.

I am going to the dentist tomorrow. I lost a filing a week ago. I wanted to go home to get it fixed but Mr Don’t Worry About Me insisted that I get it fixed here. So, to ensure the domestic tranquility – I am going to get it fixed here.

The tooth means we are here for at least 3 more weeks. And I am going to spend them increasing my swim distances. Did 3/4 mile today.

You will notice – no pictures of whales. No pictures of “where the whale was”.

Today’s board doggie loves going out on the board. As soon as his master puts the board on the beach – the dog is on it. The dog jumps off from time to time and swims around – then he gets back on. He runs all over the board. No leash, no life vest for this guy.

Carlton told me to “stop worrying”. I am trying.

Out on my whale watch walk today – when I found this mountain of old Xmas trees. It smells great.

And, nope… I didn’t see a single whale.

But, I got a nice picture.

Carlton got his dental worked finished today. I think he likes is Hawaiian dentist better than his mainland dentist. We have 3rd world medical care here. But, for some reason – the dental care is first rate.

Carlton started talking about what doctor to see when we get back home… that is a positive sign. And, for no apparent reason – he seems to be having a more positive view of his prognosis. But, we are still operating in the “Enjoy every musubi” mode. Seriously, every day – he wants musubi for lunch. Musubi is that local tasty treat of spam, rice and seaweed.

Bird Watching Today

Bird Watching Today – not even close. I was hanging around the room running various airline itineraries thru the computer. Getting more and more frustrated and worried. So, I decided to go out and Bird Watch. That is how crazy I had gotten. Fortunately, as soon as I got to the water – I saw this guy taking his elderly dog out on the paddle board. So, I came back to the room, traded the camera for a wet suit – and out I went for a nice long swim. For an hour – all was right with the universe.

Heck, we don’t even have birds around the village worthy of watching.

Crashing on the seawall
Crashing on the seawall

This lady is usually more together than this. “Sleeping” on the seawall in not recommended. Four feet down on one side is a sidewalk. Eight to twelve feet down on the other side and you run into rocks and sea urchins.

Been thinking about Carlton. I want him back in Arlington. NOW. I want to know how bad things really are. But, this isn’t about me. It is about Carlton. Whatever gives him peace and comfort. That is what I should want. I will work on wanting that.

We rarely have worthy sunrises here. But, every once in a while we get a great one. Today was one of those days.

Went for a nice long swim this morning, everything seems better when you are in the ocean.

A Little Whale Sighting
A Little Whale Sighting

We had a couple of nice whale sightings from our balcony today. A couple of whales played around for a while. They were pretty far out. I just happened to be on the balcony putting on skin lotion when I saw them. Late this afternoon – Mr C discovered a mother and calf hauling ass north much closer in. No photos of them. A good day of whaling.

I went out to the old airport seeking more whales this morning. Didn’t find any. But, I did find a slow pitch softball tournament.

I am worried to death about Mr C. I thought I could get him home by mid February. But, I am not sure anymore. And I am not sure it will make any difference anyhow. He has a broken tooth that is “under repairs”, the new crown is scheduled to arrive Feb 5. Dentist Peg thinks he has an abscessed tooth. I have ordered him to go to the dentist tomorrow and have it checked out. And, he still has this bleeding skin cancer action going on. And, he has something very wrong with his shoulder. It is a mechanical something – not a fatal thing. But, it will make playing tennis impossible. This is a very bad thing.

Strength to handle what comes next, please.
