And, the hardest will be the photographs. As I embark on this “Swedish Death Cleaning” project, I know the hardest thing will be the photographs. Funny thing is everyone wants my money, but no one wants my negatives from 1985.
It is bee photography time again!
So, what do I do this afternoon but go out and take more pictures.
But wait, I think this bee will look better in black and white.
Actually, this bee isn’t very good. But, hopefully, I’ll get other chances this summer.
And, you can not make this shit up:
Approved by Donald Trump Asbestos sold by Russian company.
The absolutely only thing that happened around here today is that this shelving unit vanished whilst I was off at breakfast.
I downsized when we moved out of the house into the apartment.
I decluttered when we changed apartments.
I seriously downsized when I moved to The Asylum.
I am now in “death cleaning” mode. Swedish death cleaning to be exact. Swedish death cleaning is old people’s version of Marie Kando.
No more keeping stuff around for “just in case”. “Just in case” at my age is sort of like “saving for a rainy day” or even worse “for a special occasion”. Every day on the green side of the grass IS a special occasion.
Last February, I went for a little boat trip down the Katherine River in far northern Australia. I was disappointed because no saltwater crocs were sighted.
This sign is as close as we came to a crocodile.
Fortunately, I obeyed the sign. Today, the internet exploded with news of a monster croc – as big as a car – as heavy as a grand piano – able to leap tall buildings…

“my” phlox. not all that fond of phloxes. but, they are blooming like crazy in my weed lot and bunnies don’t seem to like them. so, I am liking them more every day.
926 days until the 2021 Presidental Inauguration. We have to be damn sure that January 20, 2021 is a good day. Which means we have to vote in each and every election. We must not wait until November 3, 2020 to vote. It might be too late by then.
Article 1, Section 9, Clause 8 No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.
The so-called “emoluments clause” – which doesn’t seem to be working too well – doesn’t say the Orange Lord cannot declare himself “President for Life” – but it might slow him down.
On a happier note – another view of fissure 8 from last Friday.
Fissure 8 – july 6 – credit USGS – click thru – it is a big image.
Fine state of affairs when an actively erupting volcano is “a happier note”
One of my garden box neighbors has an explosion of pink tiger lilies. I love them outside – but inside the scent is a bit overwhelming.

Think that everything gardenwise is about as good as it is going to be this summer right now.
And, my room is still littered with the stuff that I took out of the closet. But, the closet is looking pretty good. Time to say bye-bye to some stuff.
Took Everything out of my closet – the clothes are all piled up on my chair.
The only smart thing about this maneuver is I did not put the clothes on the bed. I put them on my chairs. So, I can go to bed.
Anyhow, I have until Friday – the day the Old Bat Cave gets cleaned – to get everything shoveled back in the closet. The main problem is the gray shelving unit. It really doesn’t fit – it had been crammed in and it is sort of a junk catcher. Getting rid of it will force me to get rid of some “stuff” that is just there because there is space. The old “stuff expands to fill every available space” rule.
And, when I die – all that stuff will just go down to the trash in plastic bags – so do it now. Enjoy having some space in the closet. And, I really don’t need Carlton’s backpack, a beach towel, a flag, an old plaid wool blanket… And, I might get rid of my big wicker laundry basket as well.
After yesterday’s surprise sunset – well it was only a surprise that the pinky goodness wrapped around to the eastern sky – had a rippled peachy sunrise this morning. And a superday – weatherwise. Windows open.
Not the best idea ever… today, I was culling thru my photos from February 2017. Where I have way too many poor pictures of the bait school that hung out in Kailua Bay winter of 2016/2017.
Of course, I’ll never need this image. But, I can not delete it. Feb 2017.
But mid-afternoon, I was sick of looking at pictures. So, what to do, but grab the camera and go for a little walkabout. Returning with yet more images.
As for me, I am sitting in my chair, sipping my after dinner coffee, checking my net worth spreadsheet, watching my country slip slowly into fascism. Or is it “just” racism. Might be time to get off my duff soon.
OOPS – got stop grousing and watch the sunset. Fantastic. And, I face east.
Back to normal today. It is only hot – not as hot as the hinges of hell. And does hell have hinges?
I think the fireworks party went OK. We had OK fireworks, great food and lots of wine. By 10:30 everything was cleared out, cleaned up, and the dishwasher was purring away. I didn’t take fireworks pictures. I gave that up when I moved to The Asylum.
But, I haven’t given up on sunrise photos. Notice 3 construction cranes in my photo.
Scott Pruitt – lackey corrupt scumbag for the oil companies has resigned from the EPA after a host of questionable acts involving moisturizer from Ritz Carlton, a $43,000 phone booth, a job for his wife and takeout snacks from Dean and Deluca. Oh and “Get my wife a Chick-fil-A franchise” … He is being replaced by a lackey for the coal industry. Bet corrupt scumbag will fit into that sentence before long.
Just messing around with the Daucus carota AKA Queen Anne’s Lace
Carlton and I enjoyed July 4th. On this last July 4, I was playing with my new Olympus OMD E1. A very expensive retail therapy purchase. But, it is still in service. And it provided this last photo.
The last picture of Carlton and Peg together. July 4, 2014. An accidental selfie.
I still enjoy July 4th. My annual Fireworks viewing party starts in an hour. The Asylum closes the bar “in celebration of …” The bar will be open at my party.
Let’s see – about 8 guests and 16 “mini” treats. Seems about right. Next. CHAIRS. Well, this is Goodwin House. I just call the desk and say “Please have X uncomfortable chairs delivered to apartment 1134 ASAP”
Well, maybe it was only one degree cooler than yesterday. But, I went to the office. Walked. Shuttle Bused. Walked. Art Bused. Ubered. It takes a lot of transit options to get this old woman around. Only 3.75 miles on the Fitbit.
Not much happening in my little world and that is OK.
I called out of work today. Decided that it was silly for an old woman who uses public transit to be out and about unless it was truly necessary.
I did go for a little very early in the morning walkabout and discovered a wheelchair shop. They sure know where to locate their business! I think I see jumbo packages of adult diapers on the wall. Ah, the joys of old age.
Did a little work today. And, I felt goofy most of the day because of my sinuses which are annoyed by the air conditioner being on all the time. But, when it is 98°. . . I took some Sudafed – they are what make me crazy. The puffed up sinuses just hurt. But, hey, I am still on the green side of the grass. And not in a wheelchair or in need of adult diapers. It is all good.
Decided to cull and check the metadata on the photos from 2017. I did January today.
I had a real hard time culling any of the akule school.
The akule school January 2017
My little $99 underwater camera wasn’t up to the task when I came to photographing the akule school – but it is such a grand experience, swimming around in a 50+ foot bait ball. So, I kept way too many of them.
Also had a hard time getting rid of surfing photos. I would have 30+ photos from a single ride. If there was one shot from the ride that I really liked, it only seemed right to save everything from beginning to end.
There were some graceful scenic shots.
Nothing special about that shot – except it is so universal.
It is really hot today. According to Alexa, it is 96° and tomorrow is going to be hotter. So, this seems like a good time to show a photo from my trip across the county in 2016. And, 2016 is now all metadata-ed and archived off to a remarkable 1TB solid state drive.
Question is am I going to do 2017? Over 6,000 photos in 2017. We’ll see. But the first batch of photos from 2017 consists mostly of the akule school farting
