Not too good today…

After about 2PM yesterday afternoon DH sort of went downhill. He developed “acute urinary retention”. You can imagine what that means. At 8PM yesterday evening we were off to the ER. A catheter was promptly installed and by 10PM we were back home. By 11PM we were back at the ER because DH started having some bleeding from the catheter site. He was told “not to worry” and we came home. Half way home, we realize that we left all the paperwork from the two ER visits behind. Back to the ER. Get the paperwork. It is now after midnight and I decide that I am not getting into my jammies, I am going to just sleep in my clothes. But, we didn’t have to go back to the hospital.

Oh, and did I mention have we could not get in touch with his surgeon? Hello, surgeon, if you get 3 calls from someone you operated on in the morning – maybe you could call back, would that be too hard? Heck my dentist calls me in the evening if he did something “serious” to me during the day. It’s just good business.

This morning he spent a couple of hours trying to find someone who will take the catheter out. And take care of him, in case he still has “acute urinary retention”. Found someone who is geographically undesirable who will do it on Thursday. Beggars can’t be choosers. He also developed a little fever. And, his surgical dressing is looking pretty sorry. His plastic surgeon will look it at wound tomorrow morning.

The patient has eaten a banana, a muffin, and a serving of mac&cheese with a sliced tomato and two big cookies today. And, he is walking around the building and reading his Kindle. We must have been a sight yesterday in the ER – each of us seeking to escape in our Kindles.

If you got frequent flyer miles for medical hassles – we would be well on our way to a first class trip to the Maldives!

But, the sun was out. It was toasty warm. I put on my shorts, grabbed my favorite camera, slapped an old 70 mm prime lens on it and went out for a walk.
