Saturday – Reporting from The Reflecting Pool.

0607am. Don’t you remember? Don’t shoot into the sun.

What I planned.
A lazy day reading a textbook on Trigeminal Neuralgia.

What I did.
Went downtown to inspect The Reflecting Pool.

Took the bus to the Metro to GW University

Prime magnolia hunting season.

But today’s target isn’t magnolias. Head down 23rd Street. I can see the Kennedy Center.

KENNEDY Center. We know that 47’s name is gone. The Tyvek isn’t fooling anyone.

Past The Institute for Peace.

Alas, 47 is still here.
From the steps of Mr Lincoln’s Memorial, the Reflecting Pool looks “normal”.

However, upon closer inspection.

It’s Green.

Actually, two shades of green.

Your Tax Dollars at Work!

The hoses appear to be going into the storm drains. Into the Potomac River. Into the Chesapeake Bay. Into the Atlantic Ocean.

Vacuuming up the green and sending it down the storm sewers.
If you’re not resisting, you’re assisting.

I worry about this duck family.

Mother Duck didn’t seem overly concerned.

Time to head to the Smithsonian Metro Station. But first.

Being old, I had to stop for a little rest and hydration.

The way to the Metro is blocked.

Space around Mr Washington’s Monument is fenced off, and stands are under construction. For Patriotic Mud Wrestling Matches, perhaps?

Wondering where the National Guard is?
After all, DC is a very dangerous place.
47 told us so.
The National Guard should be protecting the algae or the ducks or something.

Ah, here’s the National Guard, across the street from the Metro.

Sleep easy tonight. The National Guard is protecting the crosswalk.

Grateful that I was able to take this 4-mile stroll around DC on a nice summer day.

Whatever happens is what I planned.
