OK, I think everything is working now. Blog works. Old pre-wordpress blog works. Sort of. Good enough. Email comes in and gets routed back out to Gmail. Almost ready to cancel the expensive service.

Liking the new Macbook Air. 4 times the memory. 2 times the disk space. Faster. Cooler. That would be thermo cooler. Longer battery life.

After lunch, I declared an end to all things computer and went out on the balcony for a no-tech afternoon of reading a dead tree magazine.

About the dog pictures – Sunday afternoon was dog day at the pool.

OK, I think the Blog is OK – at least for now. At least until it is time to upgrade WordPress.

And, since I was able to post the photo of Nigel, the SD card reader function works. Goodthing too. Since, all I needed was an SD card reader. The MacBook Air being lagniappe.

My beloved MS Bluetooth Mousy doesn’t work with this Mac. Worked liked a champ with the old one. Sorry Apple. But, I love my vintage IBM keyboard and MS mouse.

Oops, discovered that I still have some permissions messed up on the new host…

Did I get my stuff changed to the new hosting service or not? I think maybe it worked…

Now, lets see if the email shows up…

Now this is a truly splendid idea! My life has been less than what I would have liked it to be since our daughter disowned us in May. We redid all of our legal end of life documents to reflect the new family situation. Last week, I was de-friended on Facebook. That turned out to be quite liberating.

Last night, Carlton said that we must accept the fact the one of us will die alone. One of us will have to be sure that by the time we die – everything is taken care of and anything that is left should be stored in 4 cardboard boxes. One will contain legal papers. The other 3 personal trinkets that can be delivered to the dump or Goodwill. This is a little scary, but also liberating. There is not going to be a Peg and Carlton Presidential Library anywhere. Relatives are not going to fight over our “stuff”. No one is going to say “Now, this belonged  Peg’s Grandmother”. So, use it. Enjoy it. Or get rid of it and have less “stuff” to take care of.   Nobody will care about my junk after I am gone. No one will even care that I have gone – if I am the last to go. That is OK. It is all sort of a Buddhist impermanence thing. We are both good with that.

So what is the TRULY SPLENDID IDEA? I have wanted to change hosting providers for years. But, it always seemed like too much trouble. After the last four months – how bad can it really be? And, I can save enough money to rationalize replacing my Snail Internet with something better. I am sure that Verizon will cut DSL service to me within the next year anyhow. They spent a bunch wiring for FIOS. They will try to force us to buy it.

Cloudy today. Not a very fine last pool day.

Ordered a new SD card reader – Attached 13inch Macbook Air included for lagniappe.

The Democratic Follies begin tomorrow. Hope they provide as much amusement as the elephants did.

Speaking of the Republicans. You did notice that if you are not a “Small Business” you don’t exist. I walked to the farm market yesterday – noticed some “small businesses”. A couple of yoga studios, several gas stations, a motel of dubious repute, 2 dry cleaners, maybe 10 bars and restaurants. And, a doc-in-the-box. And a hair salon. Now, seriously, do you think any of those outfits provide health insurance. They might not even provide holidays, vacation and sick leave. Will more cup cake shops really  “get our economy going again”? I think not.

Sneaking up on my new computer – er – SD card reader.

Well, I LOOKED for the SD card today. It is well and truly gone. Tossed out in a little Peg Hissy Fit over the junk on the coffee table. So, I might have to get a new Airness. One with an SD card reader. Pretty damn expensive SD card reader!

I would get a 13 inch one – mostly because I am used to the 13 inch MacBook Air. My trip with only an iPod worked remarkably well – so, I don’t really need to lose that 1/2 pound that the 11 inch one gives back. (And, the 13 inch one is the one with the SD card reader.)

 

Still haven’t gotten an SD card reader – guess I am still thinking about getting a new Airness. But, what to do with the old one?

And, it is time to make flu vaccine buttons and stickers again. I spent most of the day trying to find a cheaper vendor. HELLO PEG, this is for a hospital. A hospital that will charge you $49.95 for an aspirin in the Emergency Department whilst having a heart attack. I was wasting a perfectly fine late summer day trying to save a few bucks. So, I stopped and went to the pool.

We have been enjoying the Republican Follies on PBS. The very same PBS that the Republicans would like to defund.

Finished my list of nasty little chores. Time to get on with life.

Lounging up on the roof – and – a big ass construction ‘copter made several passes. Think they were looking for lovely young things sunbathing topless. But, alas – just a little old lady in age appropriate swim togs. This is the last week for the pool.

Got tickets TO Kona. Leaving October 28. Once again, our hotel tells us that they are closing “our” part of the hotel. Think it will happen this year. Think they will sell off the oldest part of the hotel. Or give it back to who ever owns the land – and the land owner will demolish it. Room 328 was good while it lasted!
