SD Card Reader Still MIA

Construction helicopter buzzed the pool… from the iPod.

Lounging up on the roof – and – a big ass construction ‘copter made several passes. Think they were looking for lovely young things sunbathing topless. But, alas – just a little old lady in age appropriate swim togs. This is the last week for the pool.

Got tickets TO Kona. Leaving October 28. Once again, our hotel tells us that they are closing “our” part of the hotel. Think it will happen this year. Think they will sell off the oldest part of the hotel. Or give it back to who ever owns the land – and the land owner will demolish it. Room 328 was good while it lasted!

Fun with Fishes

A darker look at the sparkly and vicious fishes.

Tomato overload today. Both of the nurses I work with are awash in tomatoes – finally. So, now I am well and truly tomatoed. Not one little bit will go to waste. Let the tomato feasting begin.

Is it a sign from the goddess???

I love piranhas – all sparkly and vicious.

I was all set to put in a picture that I took this afternoon on my walkabout. But, I can not find my USB SD-card reader. Carlton and I have frequent little domestic disturbances over the tidiness or not tidiness of the coffee table. My guess is that it got tossed in the trash during a “OK, you want an empty coffee table, I’ll show you an empty coffee table” episode.

SO, I figure it is a sign from the goddess that I should at least consider getting a new Airness. The new ones have the SD card reader built in. Now, that is good thinking, right? Buy a new computer to replace a $5 card reader!

The current Republican Dust Up over Todd Akin has been hugely amusing. Only problem is they are nincompoops. Nincompoops who are stuck somewhere in the 19th century. Nincompoops who might be in charge of the country.

Well underway in my project to get my “end of life” organized. All the documents have been revised – they are on my desk enjoying a 7 day “cooling off period”. That takes a big load off.

Sunny Saturday.

Willis/Sears Tower

Normal Saturday. Plus, I did my normal Sunday chores a day early.

When I was cooking lunch,  I found that my hand blender was broken. Figured it was a sign from the goddess to get a new one. A better one (or at least a more expensive one.)

Verizon is going to drop DSL service to our area. They would like to all copper wire service, but I don’t know if they can get away with that. I hate dealing with Verizon. And, would hate to reward them by upgrading to FIOS. We don’t have cable so getting internet from the cable company is a non-starter. Clear has a line of sight WiFi repeater across the street. But,  but we are on the wrong side of the building to pick up the signal.

Looking Up Seeing Down

At Willis/Sears Tower Chicago

All settled back in here in exciting downtown Arlington. But, I still haven’t addressed my depressing to do list. Let’s try making a list…

  1. Make List of things that need doing to reflect new family realities.
  2. Revise Will
  3. Adjust medical directives/people who can decide what to do with my sorry ass.
  4. So, it would be a nicer legacy last year – I converted my IRA to a Roth IRA and paid a bunch of taxes. Consider converting it back.

There. I think that is it.

Powerpointer

Spent all my computer cycles today working on a powerpoint presentation for the the volunteer job. Have absolutely no interest in doing anything else on the Airness today.

Sort of a blah day.

Yellow Salsify

Today, I thought about all the sticky little tasks and some not so little ones ahead. I just thought about them. Didn’t do anything. Didn’t even make a to do list.

Well, I did Handbrake 5 movies. But, that doesn’t really count as “doing something”. Lounging by the pool doesn’t count either.

Updated July 24 – Lots of pictures. Too many most likely. But, it is my blog.

Note to Politicians

On the MegaBus with 86 of my close, very close, friends.
Toronto Bus Terminal

Note to politicians. Politicians of all parties.

Travelling in your campaign bus does not make you a person of the people. It does not put you in touch with the common folk.

You might fool voters who have not ridden a bus since the yellow school bus. But, you will not fool anyone who spent 13 hours with 86 others (plus driver) on a two country bus ride.

I was on that bus by choice. It was cheap, real cheap and was actually the quickest way home. But, I am pretty sure that most of the people on that bus were on it because they really couldn’t afford the trip otherwise.

Updated July 22 and July 23

August 4 – onward to Toronto

Just finished packing. It is 1015. Need to be out of here by 1100. I’ll be a homeless person until 1700. Made a sandwich out of my leftover food. Old cheapskate/frugal habits die hard.

There is a museum to see. There is also movie theater. And lots of nice benches all around town.
