Time for a Halloween/Day of the Dead Look.

Our skyline view wil changed when we get a new building two blocks away.
Every time they roll this sign out – I take it personally… DIET TIME.

Got the freezer all stocked with goodies to eat when we get back from Kona. NOW, I just hope that FrankenStorm will not take out our electric.

Speaking of FrankenStorm – stores out of water and toilet paper. Dog food and beer running very low.

All packed- well – almost.  Next post – from Kona. Leaving 0755 tomorrow.

Last Rose of Summer?

Last Rose of Summer

Honest. I will start getting ready to go to Kona soon. I was going to start this afternoon. But, I took a nap instead.

Soon after we leave to Kona, Franken-Storm is supposed to hit our area. Better not miss that plane.

Is it art or just Arlington?

Is this public art, a joke or for real?

Is this public art, a joke or for real? In Arlington – it is hard to tell.

Time to get serious about getting ready to go to Kona. The fridge is getting empty. The box is on the way. The rides to DCA and from KOA have been arranged. The hotel room has been confirmed. It is not our regular room. Not happy about that. But, things change.

The Neighborhood in Black and White

This condo building must have seemed like a good idea in 2006.

Decorating for Halloween is serious business for those who own houses.

Let the record show that Carlton completely destroyed his shoulder playing tennis this morning. He isn’t getting much sympathy from me. On Sunday he said “I think tennis is making my shoulder worse.” Well, now what would a normal person do? Right – and what would Mr C do? Right again. He said it went POP POP POP and now it “crunches”. And hurts. But only when he moves it.

The Afternoon

Afternoon

What was I thinking??? I wasn’t thinking. We are supposed to leave next Sunday at 7:55AM. Sounds civilized enough. The subway doesn’t start until 7:00AM, but Mr C wanted to go on Sunday. OK, we can take a cab to the airport. This morning I finally realized that the Marine Corp Marathon – with 30,000 runners – blast off time is 0755 hours. Less than 2 miles for the airport. Not a pretty picture. The subway will start early – but we would be on the train that goes to the starting line. Not pretty either.

Note to Peggy For Next Year. AVOID THE LAST SUNDAY IN OCTOBER.

Wednesday

At the bus stop

I sort of missed going out to take sunrise shots this morning – but the porch is all covered with dust. It is being repaired and Mr C has ordered me to stay off the porch lest I track dust into the living room.

Mr Romney, during the debate last night, said that women need jobs that allow them to be home in time to cook dinner for the kids. Hello, maybe some men need to be home to cook dinner for the kids? With a friend like Mr Romney, women don’t need any enemies.

Sunrise Series – The End

Sunrise Series #28

I almost slept thru The Last Sunrise. I am sort of wondering what I am going to do tomorrow morning.

Carlton decided to get a cortisone shot in his bad shoulder. I asked him if he wanted to cancel Hawai’i this year.  Carlton said no, he wants to go.

This guy and some of this siblings were enjoying themselves outside my window.

Sunrise Series #27

After that fire filled, purple haze, start. The rest of the day was warm and drizzly.

As for me, I was a data entry machine today. For a variety of reasons we have to entire all of our flu shot data twice. That will be 3,000 shots. 6,000 records.

Carlton has been having shoulder issues for about a month. The doctor wants to give him a cortisone shot. Carlton doesn’t want one. He wants a miracle.

Sunrise Series Day 26

Sunrise Series #26

Cold and windy out side this morning. But in by this time two weeks from now at this time we’ll be about 6 hours away from Kona.

Which brings up: The Annual Wetsuit Fit Test.

WetSuit Test

The verdict: It fits. It zips. But, it would fit heaps better if there were about 3 pounds less Peg to stuff in…

Carlton and I were glued to the live YouTube feed of Felix Baumgartner’s Great Adventure. We watched it from gentle take off to his graceful two point landing.

Sunrise Series #25

Sunrise Series Day 25

Glorious sunrise today. A plane, the monument, crescent moon and Venus. Had to use wide angle. And it was COLD. It was so grand, I wanted to use the good camera and the tripod. But, that gear was in the bedroom and Carlton was still asleep. So, balance self on the rail, point, hold steady and shoot.

Grilled some sausages up on the roof this afternoon. And, I am making sauce out of the last of season tomatoes. Just a nice fall day.

After a summer of discontent – life returns to its old familiar seasonal rhythms. Getting ready to get ready to move to winter quarters in two weeks.
