Fixed my theme.

Tuesday is my afternoon off. Carlton doesn’t require lunch and he volunteers at the hospital. “They” have been drilling and chipping the bricks outside our apartment. But, it was raining this afternoon. So, I had a really fine lazy afternoon.

I am in a rut. Not bored. Just in a rut. That is sort of Carlton-like. Better do something about this.

OOPS

OOPS, I messed up my wordpress theme again. I’ll fix it next week. For now – I’ll just use this one.

I spent much to much time farting around online today. Online is an addiction for me. Like caffeine. Hello my name is Peg and I am powerless over my internet usage.  I guess there is a 12 step program somewhere for the problem. But are the meetings online?

Six weeks from now – I’ll be back in Kona. We will be getting a different room. No view. But a kitchenette. Wonder what a kitchenette is?

This isn’t exactly a part of my online addiction – but wouldn’t it be cool to get EVERYTHING on your iTunes or Amazon wish list?

Did a litte online today

Well, I set my timer and snooped around the internet a little today. Facebook leads me to believe that my son-in-law got a nice promotion. A good thing. And my oldest grand kid does not seem to be spending all of her time studying at college. In fact I don’t think she has time to study. What with Facebook and Skype and so on and so forth. Not a good thing.

I also checked in online CNN (we don’t have cable). Found this superior quote from James Carville:

I sit in front of the television and shudder at the thought of one of these creationism-loving, global-warming-denying, immigration-bashing, Social-Security-cutting, clean-air-hating, mortality-fascinated, Wall-Street-protecting Republicans running my country.

Note to Obama: Hire that Cajun boy and do what he says.

Have been using the iPod Classic during my less tech diet. I think it is really just a less online diet. Whatever.

Made a great vat of veggie soup today. Expecting a cool spell starting tomorrow.

A little more technology today.

Day 97 - Cherrydale Hardware Store

A little more technology today – a photo. I did read two dead tree books during my technology holiday.

Speaking of technology – my can opener fell apart this afternoon. We may starve. But, not to worry. My beer opener still works.

A little less technology.

Decided to spend less time with the computer for a few days. My attention span seems to be shrinking. Figure technology isn’t helping. I don’t think it is dementia. I think it is mental laziness. Caused by too much pointing and clicking.

So for a few days – its back to the old ways. Read books. Read dead tree newspapers. Listen to iPod. (don’t have records or CDs anymore.) Shop at stores.

Check email twice a day. Spend required time  JUST doing investing stuff. Other than that – no online technology.

No computer or iPod games. If I need to play solitaire – get a deck of cards.

Haven’t decided how long to keep this up. At least I’ll not be yelling at my snail internet.

Still More Rain.

Yesterday was Seattle weather. Today is more like monsoon season in Ceylon.

No picture today. All of the photo brain cells have be diverted to develop a minimal offsite storage scheme for my best photos. It has to work with Snail Internet. And, I don’t want to spend a bunch of money. Also, I am not Margaret Burke-White. My photos really don’t matter.

Great sale on underdrawers at Victoria Secret on Labor Day. 7 pair of sexy panties for $25. 7 pair of saggy Wal Mart granny panties went into the trash. TMI – Carlton noticed the new fancy pants. Not as good as going to Paris for lingerie – but way cheaper.

Rain. And More Rain.

Day 94 - Carlton on oil can horse - Medora ND 1997

We are having lovely Seattle weather. Without the lovely Seattle coffee.

This afternoon – which is my weekly “afternoon off” – I napped and continued puttering around with my vintage photos.

Having a fine veggie dinner tonight – veggie chili and rice. Time to convert from summer cooking to fall cooking.

Labor Day

Day 93 - Here's To No Right Wing Nuts Allowed on Labor Day

In the 60’s and early 70’s I was a card carrying member of the Longshoremen’s Union. ILWU Local 142. We didn’t cross picket lines. We “Looked for the Union Label”. And we never ate California table grapes.

So, what happened. Why aren’t today’s worker bees up in arms. The fat cat capitalists are even fatter. Worker production is UP. Worker wages are DOWN. My theory: The fat cat capitalists are funding the TeaParty. And the TeaParty has convinced that government is the whole problem. Just free the fats cats from regulations and taxes and all will be peachy. Yeah Right.

Expecting a blood bath in the market tomorrow. If I thought I could pull it off safely – I’d bail out at the open. But, I think I’ll just put my head in the sand for the day.

Notice: I have become one of the fat cat capitalists.
