Sunrise Series Day 26

Sunrise Series #26

Cold and windy out side this morning. But in by this time two weeks from now at this time we’ll be about 6 hours away from Kona.

Which brings up: The Annual Wetsuit Fit Test.

WetSuit Test

The verdict: It fits. It zips. But, it would fit heaps better if there were about 3 pounds less Peg to stuff in…

Carlton and I were glued to the live YouTube feed of Felix Baumgartner’s Great Adventure. We watched it from gentle take off to his graceful two point landing.

Sunrise Series Day 25

Glorious sunrise today. A plane, the monument, crescent moon and Venus. Had to use wide angle. And it was COLD. It was so grand, I wanted to use the good camera and the tripod. But, that gear was in the bedroom and Carlton was still asleep. So, balance self on the rail, point, hold steady and shoot.

Grilled some sausages up on the roof this afternoon. And, I am making sauce out of the last of season tomatoes. Just a nice fall day.

After a summer of discontent – life returns to its old familiar seasonal rhythms. Getting ready to get ready to move to winter quarters in two weeks.

Sunrise Series #24

Pastel Sunrise.

Spent an hour and a half putting new bungee cord webbing on my deck chair. Call me frugal. Actually feeling pretty smug about the job.

My bus had a sign telling us how to find out if the bus is running on “snow days”. Time to put that newly renovated chair in the closet and get my butt to Kona.

Sunrise Series #23

Sunrise Series #23

No clouds this morning – so, for about 15 minutes before the sun made its appearance – we had fine orangey pinky sky.

Carlton’s Kindle arrived today. I outfitted it with 35 or so Carlton friendly books. Disabled his ability to do lots of stuff using “Parental Controls”. I put it by his chair. We’ll see if he learns how to use it. I am guessing he might.

Spent too many brain cells researching doctors/medical plans/medicare options today. I am seriously considering moving to Oregon or Washington. I really thought that “Death With Dignity” would be the law of the land by the time I got old enough to care. But, we seem to be going the other way. Switzerland has recognized the right to die since 1941.

Sunrise Series #22

Sunrise Series #22

A nice fall day after another gray start.

Carlton didn’t get any of his stitches taken out. Doc said there was too much dried blood and it would hurt too much. She said that his ear will be all better in 160 days.

Sunrise Series Day 21

Sunrise Series #21

Absolutely no reason to go out on the deck to take pictures this morning.  But, out I went. The sun has been in hiding all day.

Mr C went to see the orthopod. He paid money to have the Doc tell him that his shoulder is just old. Tomorrow he will get some of the stitches out of his ear. I keep telling him that his ear is going to look “just fine”. He doesn’t believe me.

Sunrise Series #20

Sunrise Series #20

It was chilly this morning at sunrise – but the sun put on a great show.

Standing at the bus stop this morning – all bundled up in my fattest sweater – I wonder where is the bus? Taking the day off in honor of Christopher Columbus. That is where the 52 bus is.

So, off I trudge on my little old lady feet to the hospital – the goddess rewards me with a fox sighting. While cutting thru the neighborhood – a big fluffy red fox darts across the street just in front of me. Mr Fox is enjoying the fine fall weather in his full length fur coat.

Sunrise Series #19 – Gray. Damp. Chilly.

Sunrise Series #19

No reason to go outside and take photographs today. Only reason I did was because I am on this Sunrise Quest. The sun was a complete no show today.

Three weeks from today we leave for Kona. I haven’t been able to get Carlton interested (not a surprise) but on December 24,25 and 26 one can go from Kona to Sydney Australia for less then $350 … Because he isn’t the picture of robust health at this instant I have been being as nice as it is possible for me to be – but the man may find himself left Home Alone for the winter holidays.

But, I did order him his very own Kindle this afternoon. I hope it has some sort of Parental Controls so he’ll not be able to accidentally buy stuff.

Sunrise Series #18

Carlton’s ear stopped oozing blood. He has been going around un-bandaged. Looks like a dog tried to chew his ear off.

I spent about an hour studying Medicare/Gap/Part D options. Trust me on this youngsters – it isn’t easy figuring out what to choose.

Sunrise Series #17 – And A Van Gogh Moment

Sunrise Series #17

First time in a while when I got the Monument, Plane (Bird or Superman), and Sunrise.

This is Carlton’s Ear – about 30 hours after his “procedure”. It is still oozing blood. No way I’ll be able to wrap it back up good enough to keep from getting blood all over the sheets. It was a heck of a lot cuter with the surgeon’s square gauze ear muff.

Sunrise Series #16

Sun came back for a cameo appearance this morning.

Carlton had a big chunk taken out of his ear this morning. He was at the doctor so long I called to find out if he was still alive. He has a cute square band-aid over his ear. I guess tomorrow we’ll see how much ear he has left.

And what exactly was Mr Obama doing last night at the debate?

Sunrise??? Series Day 15

Sunrise Series #15 – Sun Optional

Carlton seems to be feeling better today. That makes me feel better.

One of Carlton’s friends is making his way to the next level. Today this friend gave Carlton a “miniature” version of the Oxford English Dictionary. It weighs at least 12 pounds and comes with its own magnifying glass.
