Nobody is Promised Tomorrow. . .
Notice that sugar white sand. Hawai’i does not have sugar white sand. All the sand at Kamakahonou Beach got wash away by the tsunami. So, sugar white sand was imported from Japan. Since the tsunami came from Japan, it seems only fair.
Lunch today was shark steaks. I had papaya with mine while Carlton had avocado.
Watched the Republican debates last night. Who knew Republicans were so entertaining.
Computer is back to normal. I took the camera out for a swim this morning. I always swap out the SD card and the battery in the very well air conditioned hotel across the street – so no fish pictures from today.
The really good swimmers reported seeing a shark – now the shark was out farther than I go – but I asked myself – “I can not swim out to where the shark is – but what’s to stop the shark from swimming in to were I am?”. I didn’t have a good answer to that question. But, I swam around for about an hour anyhow. Hearing the Jaws theme song all the while!
Today’s menu: turkey meatballs, mashed potatoes, zucchini and carrots for lunch today. The meatball, zucchini and carrots got nuked together. And the potatoes were leftover. Pretty easy.
Computer is back from the shop. AGAIN. The service boy forgot to hook the fan back up. Thank you iStat Nano.
The repair would have cost $450. Two extra years of “Apple Care” cost $234. A deal.
Tomorrow, tomorrow I’ll get out of this computer soap opera. Heck, tomorrow, I might even be willing to take my camera in the ocean. There is no back up camera. Plan B, if this one floods or craps out is to order a replacement from Amazon.
The computer is back from the shop. I think it is OK. Time will tell.
Another day with no computer.
Grocery shopping, swiming, reading the pitiful West Hawaii Today newspaper. Oh yes and watching the Redskins lose again.
Just realized: What if the part comes for the Airnes and it doesn’t work?
Today was walking day. Wracked up five miles. Tired this old woman out.
Expecting a loud night tonight. Having a concert within hearing range and many of the attendees are staying in our hotel. Extra security is on tap.
A second computer free day. The iPod Touch gives little peeks of the online universe.
Today, I walked, read, and rested.
Yesterday evening the Airness had several kernal panics and black screen of death events.
The aforementioned events contined this morning. Until it would not start at all. Just made pitiful beeps.
The Airness went off to the shop this morning. Hope it will be back by November 9 or 10.
Uneventful transit from Arlington to winter quarters. I finally have everything settled in. Got my exercise getting the “kitchen” stocked. Got the kitchen stocked enough to make rice, meatball – with ginger sauce, and a nice salad for lunch.
Woke up this morning. Glorious sunny fall morning. It is “Scone Day” in the building. Carlton went down got me a scone. I was enjoying my coffee and scone – I let myself off the diet leash until Nov 1. Punch up my widgets and I found the snow icon on tomorrow’s weather. WTF??? It isn’t Halloween yet. Good news is – I don’t think it will cause any travel problems for us.
But, it sure means that anything that needs doing outside the building needed done today.
Usually when I travel I am prepared for every thing that I can imagine going wrong. What if my box of clothes isn’t at the hotel? What if the box I mailed doesn’t arrive? What if it rains? What if it doesn’t rain? What if we have to go to a funeral? What if we decide to go to a fancy dress ball? What if Martians invade? What if my camera breaks?
This year I decided on the less is more approach. I am taking one camera. I haven’t decided about taking my backup drive. If I get to Kona and my hotel box is missing – I can go up to Wal Mart and get shorts with elastic waists and granny panties. If the box I mailed doesn’t arrive – I can get a new wet suit. If my camera floods, and it might, Amazon will send me a new one. If my sandals expire – Zappos is waiting. If we have to go to a funeral – there is a 50/50 chance that it will be a “local kine” funeral and shorts with clean t-shirt is what one wears. Fancy dress ball – we a talking Kona here – it isn’t gonna happen. Martians invasion – well, I hope my camera is still working!

First the volunteer job has be crazy this week. When I wanted to be working less, I have been working more.
Second, when I came home today – I found that our carpet was being reinstalled, the gas company came to check out a gas leak, repairs were made to the gas line into the water heater, a guy was working on my chair that got way too wet during one of our floods, and finally a wall got painted. And this was all after 1:30. Goodness knows what happened during the morning.
Not much got knocked off my going to Kona 2do list.
