Some Oldies

This is still an excellent notion.

A friend in Hawai’i called this afternoon wanting a specific picture. It was a great excuse to look thru lots of old pictures.

Carlton went to see the surgeon today. He came away with visit to the MRI scheduled for next Tuesday. So, we’ll keep on pretenting everything is OK for another week. Works for me.

Men at Work

It is rather fun watching tiny little workmen hustle around the new construction site. I am cheerfully assuming that this building will not block my view. But, I may be wrong.

Well, I would complain about gaining 2.25 pounds a month while we were in Kona. When I was eating my way thru Carlton’s issues. Some fortunate souls “Can not eat” when they are worried. “Can not eat” is not in my vocabulary. When I am worried, I eat. So, I am not going to complain. I am going to remember the malasadas, the donuts, the Spam, the pumpkin pies, the apple pies, the “School Kine Cookies“, the bread puddings for breakfast, the mac nuts, the Steinlager and Long Board beers, the avocados, the mochi, plate lunch, the hulihuli chicken. As we say “choke grinds”. And I’ll be glad that 10 pounds is all that I gained. But, I am going to get rid of those nasty 10 pounds.

Mr C goes to see the oncology surgeon tomorrow morning. He is going in for an audition. The last doctor took one look at him and gave him the hook. Hopefully this guy will be willing to take Mr C on. Or refer him on to someone else.

Tax Time!

An advantage of doing the taxes in the kitchen is ready access to knives. Also coffee and chocolate. But, especially knives.

Carlton went to see a dermatology surgeon this morning. That doctor told Carlton that he needed to see an oncology surgeon. So, Carlton made an appointment to see a cancer cutter on Tuesday morning. Carlton is cool with that. Peg is not cool with that.

The internet service is GRADE F.

The North Koreans are going to nuke us.

I am 69 years old.

I am allowed to be a little crabby.

I was prepared for this?

I gotta say – we had more snow in Hawai’i! But, the government was closed. Did anyone notice? And, the schools were closed. So, I am guessing that the malls were busy.

And, red lentil soup is always a good thing.

Getting Ready…

We are supposed to be “getting ready” for Snowquestration. It didn’t snow at all last winter. And, it hasn’t snowed yet this winter. So… the local TV stations are all hyperventilating about the snow that is coming tomorrow. Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid.

For my “getting ready” – I made a pot of red lentil soup. I might even make a loaf a bread. That will be my snow-prep.

And, while we were away – the hammer head cranes invaded. Two of them are about half a block away. I can see seven cranes from “my” chair in the living room.

And, just why I venturing down this path – my plane is supposed to be down this hall – somewhere.

We made it home. One car. Three planes. Two subways. Eighteen hours. Portal to Portal. Gotta say we gave some consideration to moving to the left coast so the trip would be shorter. Also considered moving to Hawai’i. But I am too citified to make it in Kona full time.

Broke Camp Today

Stuff and More Stuff
Stuff and More Stuff

Got everything all packed up and ready to go. Mr C, I don’t think he is finished.  I still have to print out the second set of boarding passes. And, I need to top off the charge on the electronics. But, that is it.

We leave the hotel at 10:45 tomorrow AM. The plane leaves at 12:50 – going to San Jose. After a couple of hours in San Jose, it is on to Atlanta and then on to DCA. In theory we get to DCA at 9:05 Monday AM. We’ll see.

Busy as a bee? Hardly.

Yesterday I took the flat rate boxes to the post office. Today’s breaking camp event was doing all the laundry. Tomorrow is packing day. Sunday is leaving day.

Hope every one is having a good Sequester. Methinks that our elected representatives should have their pay (and benefits) sequestered until they get off their butts. But what do I know? I am just one of “We the people”…

The only thing more dysfunctional than our legislature is the Catholic Church. Let the convocation follies begin.

Boxing Day Today

I adore USPS flat rate boxes.

Carlton gave me some grief about sending 2 boxes home. But, I am so not a pack animal. I don’t mind stuffing my pack to the bursting point when there is no option – but when there is an option – take it.

WHOOPS!
WHOOPS!

The Celebrity Century didn’t start off the day real well yesterday. They dropped one their tenders/lifeboats and broke it. And, injured a crewman. Since the lifter upper thingie was busted they couldn’t get it back on the ship. The Century left yesterday afternoon – sans Life Boat #10. Apparently the cruise line just gave the boat to a local waterman with the understanding that he get it out of the way before they got fined by the harbor master.

I am back in full worry mode about Mr C again. I did manage to sort of not worry too much for two weeks. But, it is kind of hard to not worry. And, he did admit that “maybe” he should have gone to see one of the local docs.

Vacation Pau – Time to crank up the worry machine again.

I can see this tree from my balcony. It is on a construction site. Behind the fence. I haven’t a clue as to what it might be. I hope it survives the construction. Because it is lovely. All cloaked in red.

The only thing I did to get ready to break camp today was to take a bag of “stuff” to the Hospice Thrift Shop. Seems only fair – since I got plenty of stuff from them. Sort of recycling. I managed to get my underwater camera working again – and I think it will work – as long as it doesn’t go swimming again. It was one of the things donated. Complete with a warning sticker telling the prospective buyer that it really wasn’t water proof anymore.
