And why exactly… Old Panasonic L1 with cheap ass Oly 70mm lens.
And why exactly does that lovely old camera languish in the camera box on the shelf in the bedroom? It makes lovely images. Note to self: take the L1 out more often.
We had a salmon feast for lunch today. (Wild Alaskan, not farmed – thank you). With spinach and strawberry salad and big fat croissant. So, today –
Enjoy Every Sandwich: Grilled Cheese and Tomato.
Girls Race Day – 5,000 school girls ran around the neighbor – plus a few Dads in tutus.
Only in Arlington do people queue up to see a garbage truck.
Lots of big trucks at the library today. Gee, that picture could be better focused. Oh Dear. Oh Well. There was even a county bus. People lined up to see it too. Heck, for 90 cents they could ride the bus. And, they wouldn’t have to wait in line.
What is going on here?A little historic preservation I guess
The other day when I was logging my exercise miles, I came upon this 10 foot chunk of old wall all trussed up in the middle of a construction site. The only thing I can figure out is that this is a historic preservation job. And if this little chunk of the old building is included in the new building then someone gets a historic easement tax break.
Mr C is still doing fine. He said this was Lucky #13 treatment today.
Enjoy Every Sandwich – Turkey Swiss Coleslaw on Ciabatta.
You gotta love a person who has a great old car and takes it to the grocery store on Saturday morning.
I am reading a rather poorly written book about an attack on the US and Europe. A 21st century drama. The evil ones are plotting to destroy the internet and along with is Western Civilization. Oh, I believe that it could happen. But, we westerners did produce this super fine auto without the internet. Or even a computer. Maybe a slide-rule or two.
Has anyone else noticed that real scary teabaggers seem to be winning Republican primaries in some locked in Republican senate and house districts? We do live in “interesting times”.
Enjoy Every Sandwich: Barbecued brisket on a roll.
Peonies are wonderful. They enjoy 2 glorious weeks every May – weather permitting.
Mr. C’s radiologist is happy with the Merkel creature extermination process. Of course, it isn’t Dr Bobby’s life on the line.
Love being an apartment dweller. Last night – after it finished nuking our dinner veggies – the microwave died. I put in a request to fix the microwave. And when I came home at noon today, a new microwave was installed over the stove. No shopping, no figuring out what to do with the dead nuker, no problems getting it installed. The “new” microwave is 12 years old. But, it works. And, it looks just about like the old one. Fits over the stove. Has lights all that stuff. And, if it dies… I’ll just put in another repair ticket. (Oh and the new microwave is all squeeky clean. Can not say that about the old one.)
Enjoy Every Sandwich: Nothing fancy. Tuna melt for Mr C. Plain tuna for me.
Merkel creature is smaller! Still has a way to go. But, it is going.
Enjoy Every Sandwich: We will be having tuna salad for sandwiches for dinner. But, I made myself as super sandwich for lunch – left over chicken, provolone and blueberries stuffed into pita and nuked a little. Mr C went out to lunch today.
The radiology techs think that Mr C needs a new calibration run. They think the creature has shrunk and they want to move the death ray a little closer to his skull. I suppose they will recalibrate him tomorrow. Tomorrow is picture day too. You have been warned. Don’t tune in tomorrow if you don’t want to see the creature again.
Enjoy every sandwich: Fried egg sandwich with cheese and salsa.
Mother’s Day – In The Neighborhood. (click on it, there is lots going on in the picture)
Mother’s Day. I was not the mother my daughter needed. I was not the daughter my mother wanted. Mother/Daughter not my finest roles.
It was a fine warm and sunny Mother’s Day. I managed to log my 5 miles today. I turned into a squirrel this morning. I stored away 3 weeks worth of yogurts. Just like a squirrel stashing nuts. What am I expecting?
Carlton continues to be “fine”.
Enjoy every sandwich: Most excellent chicken and cheese quesadilla. With salsa, guacamole, sour cream. What’s not to love?
I went on a little outing to Old Town Alexandria this morning. It was cloudy and sprinkled. I didn’t get wet. Nor did I buy anything. So, an all around good trip.
I took some fotos with my little old FX01. And I did not use the zoom or the image stabilization. Because I still want this baby. Fujifilm X100s
Train Station and Masonic Memorial from Metro
About my old ladies home – the one that I have promised Mr C that I will move into “after”. Or that we will move into in 2 years if things go great. About these asylums… Why are they all in the ‘burbs or worse? I am a little old lady – what on earth would I do in the ‘burbs? Wouldn’t I rather live in Old Town, where I could stroll to gift shops, galleries, cafes? Damn right. Surely, I am not unique. There must be like minded old ladies somewhere.
Enjoy Every Sandwich: Mr C requested cheese burgers. Cheese Burgers delivered.
Everything is fine here. Mr C thinks that the radiation is making him tired. But, that is expected.
I need to knock myself out of this fearful waiting mode that I am in. It isn’t really helpful. I am just sort of paralyzed. But, wait… Last Friday, I was grumpy. Maybe this is better? At least I haven’t been snapping at people.
Enjoy Every Sandwich: Tuna salad and tomato on rye.
Enjoy Every Sandwich. chicken, pineapple, avocado wrap. Gee some bacon would have been good in that! Next time.
A note from the old lane: Information package came for me today from the old folks home that I think would serve me best if I stay in Northern VA. Bingo, anyone? I haven’t opened the envelop yet.
Nothing new on the Mr C’s health. The radiology folks took pictures of his head this morning. Maybe they will see some positive difference.
I had nothing to do at work today, so I left after two hours. By the time I walked home it was chilly and windy. I extended my walk and logged almost 5 miles. Then I did yoga. And made soup out of scraps that I found in the freezer. That was lunch.
Sandwiches were cancelled today. Right now I am roasting a chicken. Will have chicken with sweet potato and broccoli. I seem to be trying to make Mr C’s favorite foods. That is OK. It is the least I can do.
Sort of feel like we are marking time. Waiting on something that we don’t want to happen to happen.
