Back Home – for now.

Charleston has some wacky but rather impractical vehicles.

Very smooth trip back to The Asylum.

Uber to the airport was in surge pricing mode. I waited five minutes and the price dropped back to what I call “high-normal.” No problem.

TSA was almost invisible. I didn’t have to show ID or even a boarding pass. All face recognition. Even more amazing, I boarded the plane using my watch.

It’s all a little spooky. But I’m no longer convinced there is any such thing as privacy anyway. So I might as well enjoy the convenience.

Forty-five minutes after landing, I was back in the Old Bat Cave. Did not Uber home. Took Metro and bus. $1.10. That helped offset the $53.91 Uber ride to the airport. (Including a $13 tip.)

I came home with 189 images. Let’s look at a few.

This would be an excellent idea.
A little wild life photography with a cell phone. Boat-tailed grackle (Quiscalus major) I believe. Male. I am certain.
With the water bottle, or
without the water bottle.

I vote for the water bottle version.

  1. Hey Peggy, Do you have the Merlin App on your phone? It’s so easy to identify bird calls using it. Just a thought.

  2. @May Peace Prevail on Earth…in a cemetery? I’m not in favor of the implication. Granted, it’s a nice set of stones. And granted, we’ll all end up needing a final resting place for our earthly remains. Agreed, this is far better than a plastic box in your uncle’s garage. But “Peace on Earth” always makes me think of the aftermath of complete nuclear destruction. Better: “May harmony, kindness and love prevail.” Just sayin.
    PS Welcome back!
