Went to our building Halloween Party. I went as an old woman. The dogs had better costumes than the people. Well, the kids had costumes.

Carlton really liked that headline.

Nobody is Promised Tomorrow. . .
This Blog started in 2001 as a Trip Log to record a summer in Alaska. Since then, it has morphed into my online diary.

My hospital buddies had a going away party for me today. But, sadly, one of our team was out on a “hike” with her preschool size grandson. She fell down. Broke her ankle. Had to crawl 1/4 mile back to the road. It is what we all fear “help I have fallen and can not get up”. She is safely in hospital waiting for surgery.
And we still had our party. Good food. Nothing healthy. Lasagna, key-lime pie, yummy salad. Chocolate.

I have had tuna sandwiches for the last 5 meals. Now, I like tuna sandwiches. But, for breakfast, lunch, dinner, breakfast and lunch… Why you ask. Carlton. Why else. He keeps showing up with tuna sandwiches. No, Carlton only had tuna sandwiches for lunch and dinner. What’s wrong with this picture.
Well, one week from tomorrow is going to be very interesting. There could be a miracle and Americans could realize that the the Teapotheads have been smoking something strange. But, more likely more than one of them will be heading to DC.
Where all sorts of stuff will and will not happen. Someone will start House Impeachment procedures against Obama – because he wasn’t born a US citizen. Someone else will become total obstructionist and close the government down. More than one will not have a clue about parliamentary procedure. (that might not be a bad thing). At least one election will be decided by something or someone other than the voters. The county will sink deeper into recession and Obama will be able to run against the “do nothing” congress. It is going to be ugly. Interesting. But ugly.
This site is mildly amusing NewsMap sort of Newser for people who can read a little.

Today I decided to only take toys to Kona. No clothes. I have two pair of shorts, 5 t-shirts, 7 panties and one old bathing suit in Kona. I’ll be taking 2 cameras, the Airness, a wetsuit, 2 bathing suits, a beach dress, and a pareau. And my mask and snorkel. Also, a bag to schep stuff to the beach.
What if my stuff isn’t still in storage – well, I can always to to WalMart and the Salvation Army and outfit myself. If I need anything “nice “or Polynesian “formal” – well, then I shall come up with a Plan B.
Did I mention that I went to see the new MacBook Airs yesterday. The small one is, well, small. The big one can be enhanced with twice the memory and twice the disk as mine. It comes with TWO usb ports. But, no keyboard lights. I liked it. But, I don’t need one just yet. Like my keyboard lights. Also, I have 2 more years of Apple Care.

OK, day 20 of Fall Watch. And still not much action on the fall front.
One week from today, all my necessities packed, everything must be clean and orderly in the apartment, everything must be done – because one week from tomorrow – we leave for Hawai’i.
I made some “mental” progress towards getting ready. But, I haven’t started really doing stuff. I have been “planning”.
Lots of action on the balcony this afternoon. While I was out taking my daily “fall watch” photo – a fire started at the Virginia Theological Seminary.

After I came back inside – a big old hawk landed on the balcony railing. No photos of Mr Hawk. He was less than 10 feet away from me and the shades were up and Mr Hawk was looking into the living room. No way to get to a camera without spooking the hawk.

By this time next week I must be completely packed and ready to move to our winter camp. No wait – I am getting ahead of myself. It is only Thursday. Heck. It isn’t time to panic yet. That happens tomorrow.
Flu shots have been easing off – we had time to pose for a Flu Fighter Foto.

Random ponderings from a chilly afternoon.

It is flu shot time at the volunteer job. I worked Sunday, Monday and today. Went in at oh-dark-hundred-hours this morning.

I took the new camera with me today. No time for pictures or anything for that matter. But, I did play with the camera while waiting for the bus.

When I returned from the volunteer job today – where I must confess – I was a prima donna or even a bitch – my camera had arrived. 130 minutes after I started the battery charging up – I was out on the porch – taking this afternoon’s fall watch shot. This camera – which is water and shockproof – has less zoom than the PS camera I took to Japan, but it is a close relative. Hummm… if it is really shockproof… the camera should be able to survive the midterm elections. I don’t think I will.
I think I forgot to take my annual birthday picture this year. So, here it the 66.5 year edition of the “Ravages of Time”.

Taken with the new camera. Everything looks worse in black and white – so – I picked color.

Same excessive post processing as the other day. Different camera.

Isn’t this title a bit redundant? Don’t you have to be a dummy of the first order to run a marathon? Don’t they know that the first Marathon Man died upon the completion of his run. There is absolutely no reason to run any distance unless you are being chased by something akin to a sabre tooth tiger.
