This is about as good as I can do with the subpar iPod camera.
Funny day today. The ocean was closed due to box jellies. The high school was closed due to “fighting”. They called it “fighting”. No weapons, no injuries. Some fight, right?

Nobody is Promised Tomorrow. . .
This Blog started in 2001 as a Trip Log to record a summer in Alaska. Since then, it has morphed into my online diary.

It was that sort of a day. The fridge needed defrosting. Lots of vog. Lots of humidity. And, I got stuck in my sports bra. I actually considered cutting myself out of it.

You might be wondering, what is this VOG that I mention from time to time? Vog – Volcano Smog. Our friendly neighborhood volcano tosses tons of crap and sulfur dioxide into the air everyday. Some days there isn’t enough wind to send it all somewhere else. So, at 11am – you can look right at the sun. If our volcano were a factory the EPA would be all over it!

I had an “all about me day” today. There are those who would say everyday in Me-Day. But, that is a whole different blog entry.
Went for my “required” 5 mile walk. Stopped off at Ross Dress For Less – and bought some silky undies. Stopped at my favorite thrift shop and got a spiffy “new” shirt for 2 bucks. Came back “home” and broke out my wetsuit – decided there was no reason to be cold when I had a perfectly fine wetsuit hanging in the closet. Went for a nice toasty warm swim.
And, I did serve Mr. C stuffing and gravy (plus spinach) for dinner. Nothing else. That polished off the stuffing. Now all I have left is gravy. I also have rice. Now, if I had fried eggs and a hamburger patty I’d have loco moco – a much loved local breakfast. That would be a bottom layer of white rice, next add a hamburger, next a fried egg or two and top with gravy. Hey, don’t knock it until you try it. But, like Spam it is best when consumed on-island.
Been thinking about where and how to spend my final years – if I out live Carlton. I need to have some general plan. Before the recent family unpleasantness, I would never have considered a “Continuing Care Community”. One of those old folks asylums where you give them a bunch of money and they “promise” to look after your sorry ass. Carlton has an insurance policy that will finance such a place for me. There is a very nice one in Honolulu. When I was a kid of 22 I used to drive by it on my way to work every day and I would say “when I get old that is where I want to be…”. There is a very well established one in Portland, Oregon. And, Oregon has that very handy “assisted suicide” law. The trick is finding one that I would want to be stuck in until the end and one that has the financing to last as long as I would.

Had the last of the Thanksgiving turkey, with Safeway stuffing and gravy for dinner today. But now I have leftover stuffing and gravy. Mr C says he is more than happy to eat just stuffing and gravy. No turkey required. No veggies needed either. I think we are a little too old to worry about eating a “balanced diet”, don’t you?

Got a nice shot of the Octopus last night – but it was gone this morning. Maybe it sailed out on the morning tide. We’ll see.
It is raining at this instant. And the ocean has a bit of a chop. Good afternoon to curl up with a Kindle and cup of Kona’s finest coffee.

New month. Last month of the year. Last month of forever if this Mayan thing happens 21.dec.12. I am cool either way.
Carlton is being a museum guard tonight. His Palace is having a $100 a head fundraiser. I sent Carlton’s Palace a generous donation in lieu of going to the dinner. I got one of the ever popular in Kona “$10 Steak Dinner” fund raising things. Some school was raising money. The steak dinner – really a bento box plus a bottle of Costco water is more my style. They had pot holders, rice cookers, and 5 gallons of gas at their silent auction. I am guessing Carlton’s do had more up market items for sale at their auction.
I don’t know if they will feed Carlton. So, I saved him half of my dinner. I sure don’t want to have to fix him dinner when he gets home after 9PM.

The last day of November. And the last day of the B/W street shots.
The Octopus is still here. Apparently no guests on board. Just the crew – all 60 of them. Yesterday they went to Target and came back with a Zodiac full of Xmas decorations. Carlton thinks it might stay around until Xmas.

Carlton thinks he might need to go see a dentist. Don’t think he is interested in seeing my guy. We have never been happy with the same dentist.
The goddess punished me for shopping at WalMart. My BP drugs – my prescription is currently at WalMart online. I would think I could have it filled at the Kona WalMart – but NO. Can not even order it online and have it delivered to my local WalMart. Never mind what the website says. Then WalMart didn’t have any Luna Bars. No clothes washing soap in small size. No coffee creamer in Carlton’s favorite flavor. So, I hiked up the hill for nothing. On the way back, I got everything except the BP drugs at my local hometown grocery store. Served me right for trying shop at WalMart.

Took today’s street shot with the iPod. Yes, he was still alive.
The Octopus seemed to be getting packed up and ready to go today. I guess the uber-rich can only stand so much fun.
Mailed my Xmas presents today. And, got another pumpkin pie – on sale – I declared pumpkin pie a veggie. Just nice winter squash. So for dinner we’ll be having turkey-pineapple-mac nut salad, rice and “veggies” tonight.
