Nobody is Promised Tomorrow. . .
This Blog started in 2001 as a Trip Log to record a summer in Alaska. Since then, it has morphed into my online diary.

Wonder if we’ll be here tomorrow – or will we get taken out by the Mayan Apocalypse. I suspect my sorry ass will still be around tomorrow. But, just in case – I didn’t start my new Stephen King book – don’t think I can get thru 1,000+ pages – even if I have serious insomnia tonight.

Ah, Kona. You gotta love it. What’s not to love about a little village that still calls it’s Christmas Parade a “Christmas” Parade. But, where the local Korean and Japanese Buddhist temples both have entries.
You also have to love the local government. A government that makes the US Congress seem like a model of action.
These clowns can not even appoint a task force to “consider possible changes”.

The underwater camera is still working. Happy to have a nice green sea turtle for a swim buddy today.

That is a really good start for a Hawaiian Holiday Season.
Went to our annual Christmas Party last night after hula… Like good Hawaiians, we ate until we were too tired to eat another bite. Rice, sushi, kalua pig, steak, chicken wings, green salad, saimin salad, macaroni salad, bread pudding, cheese cake. Passed on the cake and banana bread. I think I missed gingerbread men too.

Not only does Auntie Barbara ride sidesaddle – she does it barefoot.
Nice parade this year. I took a bunch of pictures almost none of which is worth keeping. But, that is part of the fun… Hoping I got a keeper or two.

Spent the afternoon at the beach today. Swim a little. Lounge a little. Mr C was at his volunteer job all afternoon.
As for the shooting at the kindergarten in Connecticut… Where in the Constitution does it say we have the right have “semi” automatic weapons?

The underwater camera hasn’t flooded yet. But, it is on it’s last legs. Now the question is: Does an old woman really need an underwater camera? Of course this old woman needs an underwater camera. I am trying to decide what I want to get – that sad day when the seals give up.

I so don’t need an ironing board when I travel… Now, with an iron – well you can make a grilled cheese sandwich. Better the hotel should issue every guest a standup paddle board!
Thinking about a trip for next spring/summer. I really loved Japan. But there are so many other places to see. I liked the Great North American Train Trip too. Maybe not as much as Japan. Maybe – Japan to Singapore to Perth – to Sidney via rail??? In three weeks? I think that is too much in too little time. And, I don’t want to leave Mr C home alone for more than 3 weeks.

Today’s big event was going to get my teeth cleaned. It was cheaper than back home and included a nice cuppa 100% Kona coffee and a paraffin bath job for my hands.

Mostly swimming today. And football on TV.
I think the local Chamber of Commerce will be happy with today’s picture from exciting downtown Kailua-Kona.
