B/W Fest – Day 3

Day 3 - A Weed

Not too pleased with today’s result. A rather ordinary weed.

RIP James Arness. You might remember him as Marshall Dillon. But, I remember him as the giant carrot in the original “The Thing”

B/W Fest – Day 2

Day 2 - Motorcycle

Did a little de-junking today. We have lived in this apartment for a little over a year. Stuff just sort of piles up in drawers, closets and cabinets. Not to mention clothes.

B/W Fest – Day 1

Sepia Leaves - Day 1

New Project – work on Black and White Photography. One day at a time. The object is to take pictures. And make them into B/W pictures. And, to only save one image per day. Of course I’ll break the “only save one”. The question is – how long can I keep up taking a new picture that converts to B/W nicely.

Yesterday's Dark Vision B/W

It was yesterday’s vision that converted so nicely that set me on this Project.

Gee, maybe I can figure out how to put these on Facebook too. Annoy my “Friends”.

BTW – “Lost” heaps of money in the market today. Is tomorrow a “buying opportunity” or a time to head for the bunker.

Hot Hot Hot

A Dark Vision.

It is really hot hear today. Just getting me ready for my trip to New Mexico late next month.

Waiting on She Who Must Not Be Named and Ms Bachmann to get into a huge cat fight. Hair pulling, scratching, biting.

Remembering the Summer of 2004

cicada

I have a free book coupon from Shutterfly. But it expires tomorrow. So, today was spent making the 2004 photo year book. These little printed photo year books are a project. Usually I just put about 30 of my best photographs of the year in the book in no special order. But, there were very few good photos from 2004. In 2004 we were consumed with downsizing, selling our house, finding a place to live, and finally moving.

So, the 2004 book is mostly about downsizing, selling and moving. When I am a really old woman in a wheel chair – I will look at the books and wonder…

Bad News, Good News

Rolling Thunder 2011

Bad News: She Who Must Not Be Mentioned was in attendance at Rolling Thunder.

Good News: I didn’t see her. And no photos of her got into my camera.

Going to another surprise birthday party tonight. There will be no booze at this one. I hope they have caffeine and chocolate.

Tomorrow I am going to need a nice long rest. I have walked at least 5 miles in each of the last 3 days.

@ Arlington Cemetery

Goodnight Chesty, Wherever you are.

Made my annual Memorial Day Weekend visit to Arlington Cemetery this morning. Not much can be said about Arlington. It is really sad to go over to the “new” section. Where those killed in our current operations are. It is well past time to “Declare victory and leave”.

She Who Must Not Be Mentioned is going to “crash” tomorrow’s motorcycle extravaganza. The organizers said they can not keep her from riding – but she can not ride in her bus. I was going to boycott the event until I found out that she was neither invited nor wanted at the event.

Got plane reservations to Albuquerque. And hotel reservations in Santa Fe. I’ll be staying at the Hotel St. Francis. Now all I need is a bus ticket from Albuquerque to and from Santa Fe. The kid is responsible for getting the car and the lodging in Truth or Consequences. I am done planning except for the packing. And laying in MREs for Mr C.

At Long Last…

Finally, got tickets to Albuquerque. Faze one of trip to middle of nowhere completed. Got tickets FROM Albuquerque as well.

One From The 2004 Vault

Norfolk, VA

The very famous “they” are saying that She Who Must Now Be Mentioned will be announcing her 2012 run for the highest office in the land. (Note to self: Order extra-strength blood pressure meds!)

Hating myself over Zappos.com for the last couple of days. I really believe in supporting my local bricks and mortar non-chain stores. My fav local shoe store had my wear everywhere all the time way too expensive made in France sandals for $210 plus tax, plus a subway ride plus a bus transfer. Zappos.com had the same shoes for $169. Free overnight shipping. No tax. Forgive me, St Crispin, for I have sinned. But, at least I didn’t go to the store and look at the shoes and try them on and then order them on line. I knew what size and color I wanted. And, as promised – the shoes arrived in 24 hours.

Carlton said “You paid WHAT???” for the aforementioned sandals. I told him that my feet and my Metro Card are my  transportation. So, I may buy any shoes I want.

Big Red Peony

So, just what is this little old lady’s computer housekeeping routine? It is pretty basic. Every weekend I hook the Airness up to the TimeMachine. Empty the Trash. Clean out the email spam and junk folders. Change the wall paper and chrome theme. (I know, this is not housekeeping-but old ladies like wallpaper.) And restart the computer.  That is what I do. Hazel does some other stuff.

Been thinking about my trip to Truth or Consequences. While thinking – I offered to plan a trip for Carlton and me to take. Like maybe a Motel 6 road trip. He seems happy just doing his regular Carlton stuff.

And, finally, is anyone really surprised that Mitch Daniels is not running for president in 2012. (I am not running either!)

Well, we all seem to still be here…

Hawaiian Day at the Indian Museum

Well, we all seem to still be here… maybe the rapture came and nobody went. Let us hope that the Mayan calculations are better.

Went down to the Indian Museum. It was Hawaiian Day. Gotta support the home team.

Going to Truth or Consequences NM late next month. Must be home by July 4, but I am casting about for something interesting to do along the way.

GoodBye, World

It was a good world while it lasted...

Just in case – I did return my library books this afternoon. And, I plan to go to the Smithsonian on Sunday – the End of the World notwithstanding.

Revisiting the old books – science fiction – Foundation Trilogy is currently on tap. Just finish up a Philip K. Dick fest.
