Lovely day today. Warm, not hot, not humid. Carlton played tennis. I logged enough miles to make my FitBit happy. We talked about the old folks asylum.
Enjoy every sandwich: Pizza today. Pizza is a sandwich. Just like tacos are a sandwich.
How about another photo from the zoo?
It was the lion cubs first day in the outdoor enclosure.
Went to the zoo today as planned. The animals did not work out as planned.
My favorite animals are the red pandas. But, no red pandas. Seems that the red panda are vacationing in the Shenandoah Valley. Where they are supposed to be producing more red pandas.
My second favorite animal was Pandora the Octopus. She died of old age.
Third favorite animals are the giraffes. The zoo doesn’t have giraffes anymore.
I am watching the goings on in Iraq. Not good. Evacuate the US Embassy in Bagdad. And, write it all off as another really bad experience.
Mr C went to see his dermatologist today. The doctor basically told him “Good Bye”. The doctor told Carlton that he wasn’t going to die from any of his basal and squamous cell issues. Having surgery would just take a 2 or 3 months out of his life. Waiting around for skin transplants to heal etc. So, the doctor recommended that Carlton just ignore anything except the Merkel Cell stuff. And to Enjoy Every Sandwich. Go to Hawai’i. Have fun. The doc did biopsy a couple of spots and told Carlton that the Merkel Cell has most likely already “escaped containment”. This last pessimistic statement is based on experience not any Carlton-specific data. None of this is news to us.
We have an appointment to check out the an old folks asylum next week. And, I am taking the day off tomorrow.
It was over 85° this afternoon, mad dog and englishman weather. Mr C was on the courts. I was out walking on the shady side of the streets – making my FitBit happy.
I went to Carlton’s last radiation session this morning. He has to see them again in 6 weeks. And maybe get some additional CATScans. Tomorrow, he is going to see the dermatologist.
Everyone is all agog the Eric Cantor lost. Even Mr Cantor. Maybe, especially Mr Cantor. I am agog that there was someone to Mr Cantor’s right.
No pictures of Carlton. He looks the same as last week. We have more magnolia instead of more Carlton.
I don’t really know what is going to happen next to Carlton. I rather like it when there is some medical person on his case. I don’t for an instant think this is end of Merkel Cell Carcinoma.
The original version
Today’s Enjoy Every Sandwich: Tuna Melts for Mr C. Regular tuna for me.
Carlton told me to make an appointment to go take a look at an old folks asylum or two.
Still have magnolias. Of course, there is an additional challenge with magnolias. Reaching them.
I did darn little today. Went to volunteer. Went on a walk to keep my FitBit happy. Lounged on the shady deck. I haven’t been basking in the sun the year. Do you think it has something to do with Mr C’s killer skin cancer?
Speaking of Mr C – I would still be concerned about his swollen lymph nodes. But, “they” seem to think the nodes are just inflamed – not raging cancer manufacturing facilities. It is the new normal and I have acclimated.
Enjoy Every Sandwich: Liked the grilled ham, cheese and tomato sandwich we had a while ago – so I made that again.
try #3 sans processing – in case you want to see the color version.
Just a nice peaceful sunday. The sink still works. Washed dishes – everything was fine.
Made really fine Enjoy Every Sandwich Quesadillas…
We started talking a little seriously about an old folks asylum. Well, maybe not so serious. But, Carlton looked at a brochure and complained about it. I just hope he lives long enough to complain about moving into one in two years when our lease is up.
Took the L1 down to the Clarendon Bike Races today. It isn’t just what the doctor ordered for sports photography. Today’s photo isn’t my finest ever “focus in the correct place” job. But, I kinda like it.
Enjoy Every Sandwich: Cheese Burgers! And Beer (for me).
Carlton played a bunch of tennis today. So, he is a pretty happy camper.
We got trouble, right here in apartment 1701. Mr C was rinsing off the lunch dishes. The water stopped going down. We called the problem in at about 1400 hours. Mike came right up with the plumbing crash cart. 1630 hours now. Mike seems to have vanished. But, the water is still in the sink. NOW, I am hoping that no one upstairs flushes or whatever…
Thank goodness this is a rental problem.
We had a nice lunch of chicken and cauliflower. And fortunately I made our sandwiches while I was making lunch. So,
Enjoy Every Sandwich – ham, cheese, and coleslaw.
Update 1715 hours: Mike came back and brought Dave. Now there are two men under my sink.
Update Update 1830 hours: Mike and Dave finished. They have it fixed for now. I am not putting the stuff back under the sink just yet.
I haven’t done this in 3 or 4 years. Photograph Magnolias. Big fat white suckers. We’ll see what comes of this.
I have been lulled into complacency about the cancer business. I know it is still there. But, it isn’t consuming every waking moment. Enjoy every complacent day!
Enjoy Every Sandwich: Mr C will get tuna melt this evening and I’ll just have a regular tuna sandwich.
